At Cottrell Law we understand the important role employees play in the success of a business. We understand that your business requires skills and expertise which may not found domestically. We work with employers to ensure that the sourcing and recruitment of overseas staff is smooth and successful.
The following are the key areas we work in:
Approval in Principle
We assist employers to obtain Approval in Principle from Immigration New Zealand to employ overseas staff. There is a need to demonstrate that there are no New Zealanders to perform these roles. If you would advice about Approval in Principle, please click here.
Employer Accreditation
Employers who have a sound financial position, high quality human resources polices and processes, have demonstrated a commitment to training and employing New Zealanders; and have good workplace practises may be eligible to make an application for Employer Accreditation. This then allows the employer to recruit staff from overseas. There are key conditions that must be met by both the employer and the potential employee. Skills Shortage Lists
Immigration New Zealand NZ recognises that there are occupations where New Zealand employers will be unable to recruit a suitably qualified or experience New Zealand to that occupation. These occupations are defined on one of the following lists:
-
Immediate Skills Shortages; or
-
Long Term Skills Shortages; or
-
Canterbury Skills Shortages
